Cancer remains one of the most devastating health challenges affecting rural communities in Uganda. Cervical cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, and pediatric cancers are among the most common and deadly especially when detected late or left untreated. In rural areas, these cancers often go undiagnosed until it's too late, and families face an uphill battle against a system with limited resources.
Many parents and caregivers are burdened not only by the illness itself but also by the overwhelming barriers to care. They often lack basic access to reliable information about cancer symptoms, screening, and treatment options. Without financial support, some are forced to sell land or household property to afford treatment leaving their children with no inheritance and, in some cases, as orphans with nothing to fall back on. Others struggle to afford even the most basic necessities like clothing and food during treatment. Psychological support is almost non-existent, and patients frequently fail to collect test results or return for follow-up appointments due to fear, lack of transport, or despair.
Through this project, we are committed to changing that reality. We aim to:
- Leverage digital tools to increase awareness, promote early diagnosis, and track follow-ups.
- Create access to cancer treatment funding, especially for underprivileged families.
- Offer consistent psychological and emotional support for both patients and caregivers.
- Provide essential donations such as food, clothing, and hygiene items to the most vulnerable cancer patients.
